Fire Department Service & Supply was started in August of 1973 as a part-time business by 2 volunteer fire fighters, Al Sutt and Jim Trautwein.

Al & Jim were worried about the lack of concern for the volunteer fire departments, and decided to provide an outlet which would allow them to offer the most practical products for every fire department to use, at a reasonable price.

Both men served as Fire Chief of the McMahan Volunteer Fire Department, Jim Trautwein in 1970 & 1971; Al Sutt in 1972, and with their fire service background, they were easily able to understand the problems that Fire Chiefs and Fire Departments had getting the equipment the departments needed at a reasonable price and the service after the sale.

This has been carried on in FDSAS as it has passed on to Linda, Jims wife and his son Jay that now run this family owned business. Our main goal as a company is customer service.
